I’ve enjoyed my first year as head coach at Crawley Down L.T.C although it’s had ups and downs due to the weather, especially on the Open Days which seemed to get rained on.
During my first year I’ve successfully re-engaged with Crawley Down Village School and introduced a mini Orange drop-in group to the coaching programme.
Clinic Dates
This year I am aiming to hold coaching clinics on Thursdays from 7.00-8.30 on the following dates , each focussing on a different aspect of the game.
6th June Forehand
13th June Backhand
20th June Serve and Returning
27th June Singles/Doubles Tactics

Racket Demo day
I’m holding a racquet demo day where you can test rackets before you buy and get advice on your stringing requirements to suit your game. The racquets will be supplied by a local tennis shop and will come with a discount. Details on how to sign up will be sent out once everything is finalised. In addition to the racket demo day I can supply racquets throughout the year so please speak to me first if you are thinking of buying a new racquet.
Coaching
Adults: I will be running sessions on Friday mornings at 10.00-11.00 and Thursdays 6.30-7.30. These sessions cost just £5 for members .
Juniors: I will continue to hold the junior drop ins on a Thursday and Saturday. These sessions cost just £4.00 for members Also I have mini red group starting on 15th April, from 4.15-5.00 at the club. (See web site for full details)
Ball Machine
I am currently sourcing a ball machine which will be available for hire with or without the coach. A ball machine is great for honing your ground strokes or volleys. Hire it during a Grand Slam and I will donate 50% of the hire charge to the club. The cost will be in the region of £5.00 for half an hour and £10.00 for an hour without a coach, and £10.00 for half an hour and £15.00 for an hour with a coach.
